MLM coordinator Shah seeks bail

Wed Nov 07 2012,
Pankaj Shah (58), a coordinator with multi-level marketing (MLM) portal SpeakAsia who was arrested by Mumbai Police economic offences wing on October 9, has moved the sessions court for bail.
The arrest was made after Navneet Khosla, who allegedly invested Rs 2.7 lakh in the company, lodged a police complaint last year that he did not receive promised returns.
Shah claimed he was only an employee of the company from January to October 2010 and earned a salary of Rs 50,000 per month.
He said he did not benefit from the scheme and the money he collected as coordinator went to the company.
Shah, the only accused put behind bars in the case, claimed he was falsely implicated.
Police had arrested six persons, including chief operating officer Tarak Bajpai (36) of the company, in August last year. All were later released on bail.
Shah has sought relief on the ground of parity.
Manoj Kumar, chief executive officer of the company, is still at large. The prosecution believes he is in Abu Dhabi. It claimed over 20 lakh people invested money in SpeakAsia
